Toy Story 3 and DreamWorks Dragons compete for Best Animated Film at the 2011 Oscars

2 movies vie for the ultimate prize. I’m Realistic Fish Head. Fresh off the Golden Globe win for Best Feature Film, Toy Story 3 continues to dominate the animated scene. As for DreamWorks Dragons which was once again defeated by the Golden Globe winner, it still needs the same traits as the previous films. With the 2011 SAG Awards premiering tonight, This gives the film a chance to prove if it’s tough to beat. But will Toy Story 3 once again be Oscar worthy? Or will our current box office hits spoil both Oscar contenders? Speaking of box office hits, Gene has the scoop!

Gene: The Rite, a suspenseful film about exorcism, spooks up the top spot this week. Yesterday’s premiere at the theaters racked up more than 15 million. Following that was No Strings Attached in 2nd, and The Mechanic in 3rd after not being ranked last week. The Green Hornet slips two spots to 4th, The King’s Speech in 5th, and True Grit in 6th. The Rite was the big surprise this week after some scenes of the movie were caught off guard by other movie hits. Will this movie be able to scare audiences in theaters? Find out Monday movie fans!

The #1 animated movie of 2010 is number 1 at the Golden Globes

Toy Story 3 bests its competitors! I’m Realistic Fish Head. It was an exciting surprise at the 2011 Golden Globes last week as movies old and new compete in separate categories to receive this golden award. In a big surprise, Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3, the last film in which Andy goes to college before moving them to a new owner, was the unexpected winner for best animated film. For more on last week’s Golden Globes, Gene Scallop’s here with this week’s entertainment report!

Gene: Hi there award season fans! We know that Toy Story 3 was going to be Emmy worthy someday but globe worthy? Yes. In a stunning surprise the film that was top in the box office last year for many weeks has stunned Despicable Me, The Illusionist, DreamWorks Dragons, and yes, even Tangled.  In Best Motion Picture, Sony’s The Social Network shows how Face book itself can and will socialize many people for years to come. The movie was also awarded for Best Director and Best Screenplay as well as Best Musical Score. In the reality biz, HBO takes 4 Golden Globes for Best TV Series for its show Boardwalk Empire, Best Performance Actor in a TV series and Best Performance Actor and Actress a mini series, leaving only Fox for Best Performance Acting for the TV hit Glee.

Meanwhile at the box office, The Green Hornet, based on the mid-70’s TV hit of the same name, tops the box office this week. Kudos to Sony for updating the TV show to an action packed movie. Like the other TV shows that turned into box office hits, this movie has brought back its style from the days of yesteryear on TV. It took a 4 day weekend for moviegoers to see this updated version of the TV show. True Grit didn’t have enough action in them as it slipped into 3rd place behind The Dilemma which placed 2nd. How will the Green Hornet do this time? Find out next time movie fans!

The toons get the goods! I’m Realistic Fish Head. Last week the toons came back from holiday break, which means that this week, the full schedule for late winter to early spring has arrived! With the 2011 Golden Globes airing tonight, some newcomers from TV and movies will do their best to earn themselves a golden globe. As for the schedule on TV and DVD, Disney Junior has confirmed that it will be released on Valentine’s Day, a perfect love gift for all preschoolers. In other news, DreamWorks is expanding their research on upcoming 3D movies in their arsenal which follows Disney’s recent 3D film Tangled.

Also in the news, if you thought the Mystery with a Twistory was great, we’re bringing it on DVD! That’s right mystery fans, relive the Great Krabby Patty Caper this March as Sponge Bob and Patrick track down the culprit of this express to express mystery. And Power Rangers Samurai makes their debut  in early February after being purchased by Disney for 6 years.

Gene: Our analysis proves true! True Grit takes the top spot this week putting Little Fockers in 2nd. New movies such as Country Strong and Season of the Witch posted great numbers but Avatar still holds on in the rankings by 30% putting Yogi Bear and Narnia: Dawn Trader and many others below the list. Come Monday, will True Grit still be gunning for more cash?

The stars of Hollywood get ready for tonight’s Golden Globe Awards. And as we inch closer to spring, our toon team ups prepare for a new arrival of a new team: Power Rangers Samurai! This is Realistic Fish Head saying let’s get ready for battle!

SpongeBob Season 9 prepped for 2012

Flash! SpongeBob’s journey continues a year ahead! I’m Realistic Fish Head. The announcement from Tuesday night pleased the citizens of Bikini Bottom as well as the toon world this week as season 9 premieres in 2012. In Season 9, viewers should be on the lookout for new plot lines as well as special guests and appearances including new episodes. Also in addition to the 26-episode package, the show will premiere its 200th episode chalking up another milestone for SpongeBob and friends. As of December 2009, SpongeBob is destined to surpass Rug rats, which was a 172-episode package, as the longest running Nicktoon in Nick history.

Gene, looks like there’s no changes in the box office this week. Is True Grit still the movie to beat out other new movies this year?

Gene: True Grit may still be in second place, but it’s still gunning out for the best movie this year. With Little Fockers still #1 for another week in a row, audiences are still laughing about it. As we preview the best family movies for Summer 2011, here’s what to look for:

Cars 2 finds racing hero Lightning Mc Queen and Mater the Tow Truck on a trek around the world as they travel internationally as they race to victory with a little spy theme rolling in. The Smurfs head out of the toon world and into the real world. But will they fit right in? Next, Puss in Boots is on his own after 2 encounters with the ogre hero Shrek as he quickly uses his swashbuckling techniques. But this one takes place before he met Shrek and Donkey. Will this cat please other tabbies as his moves led him to this exact moment? Then we head to China as Po, the Dragon Warrior along with the Furious Five battle a kung fu kicking peacock to defend the city. We head to the Artic next as Happy Feet 2, the sequel to the 2006 Oscar winner, finds tap dancing Mumble once again at his tap dancing best. And as a surprise, Pink takes Gloria’s role due to Brittney Murphy’s death back in 2010. With Winnie the Pooh coming through along with 6 penguins too, everyone’s anxiously awaiting what happens to Harry Potter in part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It’s a summer waiting to happen as Summer movie season 2011 is coming soon!

Recapping our breaking news story, SpongeBob’s story continues as the show’s picked up for Season 9. Filled with shockers, special guests, and a 200 episode milestone. This is Realistic Fish Head saying, congratulations SpongeBob!

Something new maybe in store for the toon world in 2011

A great new year in store for the toon world! I’m Realistic Fish Head. With Winter TV Season 2011 in full swing, our friends are gearing up of what maybe the best year ever that’ll be even better than last year. Meanwhile in the real world, a mystery surrounds a girl who may have unraveled an ancient treasure and everyone is destined to find out why. If you thought the first night of Nick’s new suspenseful show House of Anubis was surprising, many viewers are asking what happens next? This Sunday, it’ll all be revealed as House of Anubis enters night 2.

Let’s see what happened during Christmas break at the movies!

Gene: Little Fockers, the top comedic movie dominated the entertainment world by storm, but True Grit, the newest western, saved the box office from utter domination. Why you may ask? Because of an short decrease in holiday movies such as Avatar and Sherlock Holmes, the comedy was the best but movie attendance was down. As for True Grit, it had everything it could ask for: gun fights, lots of horse riding, even the western accent too. With that, it might shoot down both Narnia: Dawn Trader and The Tourist once the numbers update on Monday as we enter 2011 in the box office.

What surprises await from inside the House of Anubis? And come next week, the toons return with new surprises and shows as your returning favorites treat viewers with new episodes! This is Realistic Fish Head saying, bring on the new stuff!
