Adult Swim plans late night Toonami block for next week plus The Avengers still tops in the box office for 3rd week

Toonami goes late night! I’m Realistic Fish Head. Breaking news! This past Wednesday Toonami, off their 15th birthday and a long vacation had planned to come back after an April Fool’s joke. Previously highlighted from Gene Scallop’s entertainment report, the fan favorite block is going to Adult Swim confirmed by a press statement just released this morning. Perch Perkins has the update.

Perch Perkins (via Cartoon Network/Adult Swim HQ)-Beginning Saturday, May 26, Adult Swim brings back Toonami, the network’s popular block of anime programming. Airing weekly from midnight to 6 a.m. (ET/PT), in addition to the return of previous series featured in Toonami, Adult Swim is also developing new original anime programming for fans."

This marks the second network block, the first being the recently revived Cartoon Planet way back in October, to be resurrected after a very long hiatus. Meanwhile, the Penguins and TUFF Puppy continue bringing new Sunday morning episodes prepping for both Summer TV season 2012 and this year’s Daytime Emmy’s. This battle could be determined if the Penguins can win as much as 3 daytime Emmys if the voters choose right!

Gene: Another win for the Marvel Heroes! Disney’s really racking up the dough after an excellent run in the stock market and in the box office. With them taking out both Universal’s Battle Ship and Paramount’s The Dictator with Sasha Baron Cohen who voices the original King Julien in the Madagascar movies, the Avengers continue to make the mouse proud. With 450 million smackers, the Marvel heroes still keep the top spot delivering a double whammy to Battle Ship and the Dictator in 2nd and 3rd position. Dark Shadows drops 4th and Lions Gate’s What to expect while your expecting goes 5th. Sony’s Pirates rounds out in 10th as they continue to pillage and plunder.

Let’s see how many signatures are on the board today!

465 and still counting, way to go! With less episodes left before the real story gets juicy, our flightless heroes will know whether if they are to keep going if fans keep signing in or in our case, will the 4th season in case it doesn’t pull through, spell the last episode of season 3 and more importantly the end for the Penguins as we know it?

With Memorial Day weekend coming next week, things will heat up literally! We’re facing 3 factors here: Will the Avengers stay on top for week 4? Can Madagascar 3 direct Alex and the Central Park Zoosters home? Will we have a slump-free movie blockbuster summer? We’ll be here to answer them as soon as we get them!

Come Memorial Day Toonami fans, you’ll see your favorite host Tom as he comes back after shutting down the block back in September 2008 after Cartoon Network went into a lot of trouble. What wonders await them after a long hard rest of an action-free packed toon world? The answer lies in wait as this is Realistic Fish Head saying, the revolution will return!
