Universal’s dream comes true coming March 4th

The rotating globe plans a 2012 bonanza! I’m Realistic Fish Head. Taking a cue from Paramount’s 100th birthday which beat the globe by 1 month, Universal Pictures recently unveiled its 100th anniversary logo. The last birthday came back in1990 when it celebrated its 75th year when Back to the Future 3 was the 75th film. For the 2012 party, the studio is bringing back 13 movies from the 1980’s such as Jaws, the terrifying shark. Now 30+ movies later, The Lorax, based on the Dr. Seuss book will be the 100th movie come March 4th. The other Seuss characters based on these movies from both Universal and Fox recently were Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, and The Grinch. Perch Perkins tells us what else is turning 100:

Perch: Tonight’s the big night as Adult Swim’s Award wining series Robot Chicken airs episode 100! As part of this occasion, the show is launching a 5 day webcast so fans can ask their most important questions about the show. The creator of the award winning series Seth Green had this to say about the 100th episode:

“I’m proud and a bit shocked that we reached this milestone,” “It’s great to work with people you like and we are thrilled that the show’s fans continue to support our show and that our guest stars still like to come and play with us.”

Also in basic cable news, Disney Junior, the channel that succeeded Playhouse Disney is going 24/7 on March 24th! Following the footsteps of its predecessors like Disney Channel, Disney XD, ESPN, and many others, preschoolers will get a chance to see all their favorite shows like Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Timmy Time. New to the schedule are A Poem is…, Doc McStuffins, and the Magical World of Disney Junior consisting a movie block of all Disney classic movies. So be on the lookout on whether this preschool channel is available in your area coming this spring!

Gene: It’s official folks, Lions gate has snagged Summit Entertainment! Now if only Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman could sign their employment pacts on the dotted line…

Anyway, this means the deal worth 725 million smackers gives the heavenly gate all of Summit Entertainment’s movies and blockbusters including the Twilight movies and current movies in production despite sources saying that Friedman will take over domestic and Wachsberger foreign and together run the movie division for Lions gate chairman Jon Feltheimer and vice chairman Michael Burns. Unlike Warner Bros, teaming up with New Line Cinema, Summit will be a stand alone company during its duration.

Going into MLK weekend Universal’s Contraband takes the top position. Beauty and the Beast 3D takes 2nd after being put in the Disney Vault ever since, Warner Bros. new hit Joyful Noise sings in 3rd, MI: 4 stays in 4th, and Sherlock Holmes 2 completes the top 5 as both Disney and Universal outperform the box office with no slump in sight. Will it be a dream come true for Universal come March 4th when The Loyax walks into town? Stay tuned moviegoers!

Yes loyal fans, keep dreaming as we celebrate MLK Day this week. The Golden Globes air tonight! Will the first silent movie The Artist win big just as critics predicted? Find out if this surprises the Academy! This is Realistic Fish Head saying, I have a dream! Do you?
